Types of Voting
There are several types of polls you can set up through DotVot. They all tend to be variations on a theme, and provided for convenience.
Dot vote
Dot voting is where participants are allowed a set number of votes across several options. Usually used to triage down from a large number of items down to a top three or four. You are allowed to vote the the same thing multiple times, or spread your votes around. At the end of the poll, the votes are counted and the results orders "most popular" to "least popular".
Roman vote
A simple thumbs up/thumbs down/don't care survey. A very quick and simple way to gauge the feeling in the room about a topic -- for example, "shall we continue talking about this?" after a 5 minute timebox on a particular point. Can be useful to move conversations along in retrospectives and agile coffee meetings etc.
Planning poker
Classic agile deck of planning poker. Used for sizing tasks.
Ranked vote
Allows you to submit your top choices of options in order of preference.
